Inspired Organizations receive my Video and Workshop Donations
I've chosen my "Five Favorite" organizations to donate $1 from every Inspired Video Download sold on my site. I also let you know where my 10% donation from workshop and product profits are heading. It is my desire to share inspiring messages and empower others to find their own inspiration to live more vibrantly. This is one way I choose to make a difference in our world. These "Five Favorite" organizations inspire me and I am grateful for their Vision and commitment to Action to make a difference in the world. Please enjoy learning more about these organizations if their Worthwhile Work makes sense to you. Empowered giving always involves research and choice. I simply wish you know where I've chosen to donate, however, I encourage you to carefully make your own choice to support those organizations that are in alignment with your values. Pay It Forward. We all benefit. (All pictures and many of the descriptions are taken from the organizations websites and they retain full copyright of photos and material.)

Blue Planet Run Foundation
I learned about the Blue Planet Run Foundation when I found their coffee table book “Blue Planet Run.” This is an important, beautiful, and disturbing book. Reading this, I learned something about the water crisis on our planet, the amazing Blue Planet Run across 22 countries, and the foundation with an impressive vision. I was moved to tears .... and to action. Read the article I wrote in the January/February issue of my Authentic Living Newsletter (“Water is Life. Pass it On.”).
Their Vision: A world where everyone has access to safe drinking water and healthy human beings have a chance to live up to their potential. Their Mission: To bring the global community together to provide safe drinking water to the billion people around the world in need. Their Goal: Provide safe drinking water to 200 million people by 2027. (I'm in! Join me?)
Check them out to learn more and see how you might help. $30 provides safe drinking water for life for someone in need. Buy the Blue Planet Run book. (Sometimes there is a 2 for 1 special online at blueplanetrun.org) Join Team Blue and turn any event into a life saving gift for those that need safe drinking water. Run, walk, swim, climb, hoop, tackle, skate, cycle…you decide.

MicroPlace
I learned about MicroPlace through an ad in Ode magazine and was immediately interested in the opportunity provided by microfinance. This is an opportunity to invest with a small return. While it is not strictly a donation, you will see why I included this option in my top 5 list. Read more about MicroPlace in the July/August 2008 issue of my Authentic Living Newsletter (“Small Investments. Big Ripples.”) or online at www.microplace.com
"A billion people around the world work hard every day to lift themselves out of poverty. They don't want your charity. They want your investment. Invest today, earn a return, provide them with a livelihood. Your portfolio is their livelihood. Your investment dollars fund organizations that make loans to the world's working poor. See how your investments earn a return while empowering the poor to lift themselves out of poverty."
You can choose investment amounts, places in the world, types of business, and investment firm. Yes, you can also invest in America! "Unlike developing countries, many American micro-entrepreneurs often have other sources of capital (like credit cards) but still need some guidance. So programs here offer services other than just credit to folks traditionally underserved by banks. They provide business training, technical assistance and mentoring, networking opportunities to name a few. Most American microfinance institutions are funded through donations."

Heifer International
For years, I have supported Heifer as I found it to be an empowering organization with sustainable projects to support their Mission of ending world hunger and poverty and caring for the earth. Your donation allows for an individual to receive an animal that is indigenous to their area, such as llamas, goats, rabbits, or hens. Imagine being gifted with goats that can offer your children milk and the opportunity to go to school with the profit from the sale of extra milk. Paying it forward is a part of the deal, as offspring and experience are shared with others in the community.
Heifer has learned over the years that a holistic approach is necessary in order to build sustainable communities. So they’ve developed a set of global initiatives. Check them out: Agroecology, Animal Well-Being, Gender Equity, HIV-AIDS, Microenterprise, Urban Agriculture, Young People's Initiative.
It is amazing what your loose change can add up to! Make it a family event to save for and choose a Heifer gift for those you care about. Visit them online at www.heifer.org.

Chapel of Sacred Mirrors
The Mission of the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, CoSM, is to build an enduring sanctuary of visionary art to inspire every piligrim's creative path and embody the values of love and perennial wisdom. The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, CoSM, is a 501(c)(3) organization, supported solely by charitable donations from the community. CoSM provides a public exhibition of the Sacred Mirrors and the most outstanding works of mystical art by Alex Grey.
For five years the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, CoSM, was open in New York City for contemplation and as a center for events encouraging the creative spirit. I spent a valuable afternoon visiting the Sacred Mirrors and witnessing the visionary artwork of Alex Grey. Hosting hundreds of spiritual and cultural events over the years, CoSM closed it's doors in New York City on January 1, 2009. The Sacred Mirrors, which were on display in the Chapel (see below), are a series of paintings that allow us to see ourselves and each other as reflections of the Divine. The illustrated book, CoSM, Chapel of Sacred Mirrors is available online at www.cosm.org for a special price of $10. (See also their book on Damanhur's Temples of Humankind!).
CoSM recently acquired a 40 acre interfaith retreat center as a permanent home.
Sixty-five miles north of New York City in the town of Wappinger, CoSM will reopen a magnificent new Chapel exhibition environment for the artwork that has become a context for a growing community. Here creative people will join together to build an oasis for spiritual and cultural renewal. People of all ages, colors, and faiths from around the globe will pilgrimage to this place of beauty to enter into contemplative union with the artworks and nature. The exhibition of Alex Grey's Sacred Mirrors collection will not be open until the spring of 2010, after massive renovations of the existing brick exhibition hall.

My visit to the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. Notice the energy dancing in the blurry photo.
"The Sacred Mirror series begins with the opportunity to see oneself in the fractured mirror of the Material World, and closes with another mirror reflecting the unbroken Spiritual World. It is essentially the same world, but transformed into a world of luminosity and interrelatedness. In the center of Spiritual World is a radiant sun, located approximately where the face of the viewer might be reflected. The sun radiates a network of light and carved into its center is the name of the source of the light and the self. The final mirror is an invitation to reflect on oneself and others, as well as on one's entire surroundings, as an aspect of God ,and hence, is sacred."

Damanhur: Temples of Humankind
Awarded by the United Nations as a model for a sustainable future, Damanhur is an eco-society based upon ethical and spiritual values. Damanhur promotes a culture of peace and balanced development through solidarity, voluntary work, respect for the environment, art and social and political commitment.
Founded in 1975, the Federation numbers around 1,000 citizens and extends across approximately 500 hectares of territory scattered across Valchiusella and the area of Alto Canavese, in the foothills of the Piedmont Alps.
The citizens of the Federation study, explore and experiment with the aim of reaching an ever more profound understanding of the universe and the role of human beings. The central values that unite all those belonging to the people are sharing, solidarity, positive thought and an active commitment to the re-awakening of humanity on this planet.
The Temples of Humankind are an underground work of art, created entirely by hand and dedicated to the divine nature of humanity. It is a great three dimensional book which recounts the history of Humankind through all the art forms, a path of re-awakening to the Divine inside and outside of ourselves. The Temples of Humankind symbolically represent the inner rooms inside every human being. Walking through its halls and corridors corresponds to a profound journey inside oneself.
“The Temples of Humankind are a surprising achievement, and what does that say about the community that built them? The social structure developed by the Damanhurians has turned out to be as extraordinary in every aspect as the Temples are. The first thing to clarify is that this is a place of spiritual and philosophical research; Damanhur is not trying to create a new religion. Here they are researching in the field of spirituality, of social philosophy, here they are researching life. (…)"

Light Gives Heat
SUUBI
I happened upon SUBBI beads somehow a few years ago and was instantly grateful for the HOPEful feeling I experienced. Among other empowering projects, Light Gives Heat has committed to creating sustainable business opportunities for women in Uganda displaced by violent war and responsible for the care of their families. Suubi is the Ugandan word for hope, thus the beads are well named. Sundays finds these woman joyfully rolling paper beads from recycled paper under the Jackfruit tree. These beads, infused with joy, hope, and love of life, are strung in an array of designs. I've been wearing and sharing SUUBI beads as a means to support my human family across the globe and as a way of instilling HOPE in the lives of the receipients who receive these gifts. Learn more about Light Gives Heat and SUUBI beads for yourself and see if you are called to sustain and spread HOPE in your neck of the woods.
