Heart Assisted Therapy™

Heart Assisted Therapy (HAT) is a profoundly effective Energy Psychology technique that rapidly and effectively assists individuals in the release of emotional distress. Dr. Milano has completed Advanced Training with John Diepold, Ph.D., creator of Heart Assisted Therapy and Evolving Thought Field Therapy™. With over 25 years experience providing psychotherapy, Dr. Milano has found that Heart Assisted Therapy is unique in it's ability to gently, rapidly, and effectively help clients resolve emotionally distressing events that have negatively impacted their lives. From the mild insult to the prolonged trauma, Dr. Milano's clients have consistently reported significant, and often immediate, relief from traumatic and disruptive events across their life experience. While the memory of these events or problems remain, they have lost their 'negative charge' that had been so disruptive to daily living. Once these blocks to healing have been removed, clients can proceed to utilize effective strategies to support an adaptive, healthy approach to living.

Heart Assisted Therapy, created by John Diepold, Ph.D., is the cutting edge off-shoot of Evolving Thought Field Therapy (EvTFT) that was developed by Diepold, Britt, and Bender. Heart Assisted Therapy is an integrated, mind/body Energy Psychotherapy that allows for gentle, mindful release of core traumas, problems, and disruptive emotions (negative and positive) in a rapid, effective manner. Heart Assisted Therapy is easily integrated into the Clinical Psychologist's repertoire of treatment as it empowers the individual's natural, innate capacity for healing.

Heart Assisted Therapy, like its predecessors, integrates the ancient knowledge of Chinese medicine, acupuncture meridian theory, and the understanding that the breath facilitates the flow of Chi (Life Force energy) throughout the body along complex pathways. Unrestricted flow of this Life Force energy underlies our natural state of health and the complex flow of information throughout every aspect of the mind/body. Imbalances within the distribution of Chi throughout the body is viewed as the blueprint for physical and/or psychological problems.

During Heart Assisted Therapy, the individual focuses his or her thought upon the problem, while the use of kinesiology (muscle testing) accesses the mind/body's innate intelligence to identify whether a disruption in the energy flow exists. With a gentle, relaxing process of heart breathing, a protocol follows the individual's innate mind/body intelligence as a guide to the presence of disruptions/blocks in the energy flow and disruptive beliefs (conscious and unconscious). Such disruptions, blocks, and unproductive beliefs are gently released in a rapid, effective manner which neutralizes or eliminates the energetic cause of the experienced problem.

History of Heart Assisted Therapy

Just as Heart Assisted Therapy has grown out of Evolving Thought Field Therapy, EvTFT has grown out of what is commonly referred to as Thought Field Therapy or The Callahan Techniques™. Callahan introduced a paradigm shifting conceptualization about the nature of psychological problems and the rapid alleviation of emotional distress. As an outgrowth of the successful treatment with The Callahan Techniques, tapping as treatment on the acupuncture meridians has been incorporated into other acupuncture meridian based psychotherapies (e.g., James Durlacher's AcuPOWER, Gary Craig's EFT, Fred Gallo's EDxTM).

Heart Assisted Therapy and Evolving Thought Field Therapy are distinguished from the tapping, meridian based psychotherapies by the use of the Touch and Breath (TAB) technique. The TAB approach is a gentle, mindful, and natural treatment, used in lieu of tapping, to facilitate Chi influence along the acupuncture meridians. Within the Heart Assisted Therapy, the TAB technique is applied to the heart area only, eliminating the need to diagnose and treat along the multitude of acupuncture points. The TAB approach is consistent with traditional and contemporary Chinese thinking related to the flow of Chi, as well as with emerging evidence of the complexity of bioelectric currents throughout the body. At this point, HAT and EvTFT are the only offshoots of Thought Field Therapy to utilize the gentle Touch and Breathe technique versus the Thought Field techniques which involve clients tapping upon meridian points.
